Palm Avenue Parking Garage - Downtown Sarasota

SARASOTA, FLORIDA 7/2/2010 - Harrimans Inc, announces it has been selected by Suffolk Construction to furnish and install the Photovoltaic Solar Electric system for the U.S. Green Council LEED Certified Palm Avenue Parking Garage, being built for the City of Sarasota, in Downtown Sarasota.
According to Tom Harriman-CEO, this is a very unique project. Project designer Carlos Correa designed the (44) SOLAR WORLD 230 watt Sun Module solar array, mounted on the roof top of the carport on this six story structure. The installation will incorporate the latest DC to AC Micro Inverter technology. Each Solar World module will be equipped with an ENPHASE Energy micro inverter designed to track the maximum power points through specific algorithms designed to calculate and respond to temperature and sunlight changes detected at each photovoltaic panel.
In addition, the Solar Electric System will be monitored by ENPHASE unique “ENLIGHTEN” web based monitoring system. The ENLIGHTEN System constantly monitors each micro inverter, thus verifying in real time the performance of each SOLAR WORLD SW-230 Sun Module.
The Palm Avenue Parking Garage will have a retail section at ground level, will be bicycle user friendly, offer preferential parking for alternative fuel vehicles, and will also offer electric vehicle charging stations, a new concept on public parking areas.
The 10.12 KW Solar array will produce enough electricity to power six (6) electric vehicles to cover 15,000 miles each in a year, or one (1) electric vehicle to run 90,000 miles in a year.
